1. Kedon Slovis will put up Heisman numbers

When JT Daniels went down with injury in the 2019 opener against Fresno State, it appeared that USC’s season, and Clay Helton’s job, was in jeopardy. Instead, freshman Kedon Slovis took over at quarterback and made an indelible mark in Los Angeles.

The Trojan offense ranked sixth in the nation in passing, on the back of Slovis’ 3,502 yards and 30 touchdowns. He kept his interception numbers in the single digits with just nine, and with the expected growth as he goes from a freshman to a sophomore, his decision-making will only get better.

Down the stretch, the young quarterback had some eye-popping games, including 406 yards against Colorado and California, 432 against Arizona State, and 515 against cross-town rival UCLA.

Perhaps the most impressive part of 2019 was that the Trojans won five of their last six regular season games. After an early stretch that saw action from three quarterbacks, USC truly found its stride with Slovis cemented as the starter.

If USC is going to win the Pac-12, it will start at the sport’s most important position. With Slovis, the Trojans can check that box.
