Arkansas Football: Ranking 2020 opponents by toughness
Charleston Southern finished just 6-6 a season ago and there’s plenty of reason to believe the Buccaneers won’t be much better in 2020 despite bringing back star defensive back Cody Cline and quarterback Jack Chambers. However, they did lose their top two receivers and their leading tackler, so we could see Arkansas getting a nice pick-me-up win to start October.
No, the Razorbacks aren’t going to head into this one with a winning record (most likely) but this will be a confidence-booster against a middle-of-the-pack team from the Big South.
Louisiana-Monroe has been known for pulling off upsets over the years and Arkansas knows that all too well. In fact, the Warhawks went into Little Rock and pulled off a massive upset over No. 8 Arkansas in 2012 and while the Razorbacks aren’t exactly contenders this season so a ULM win wouldn’t be all that shocking.
I don’t see that happening this time around, though. The Warhawks are coming off a 5-7 season and are likely to be even worse this time around with a new quarterback and almost all new receivers taking over. The defense, however, will be an even bigger issue as it ranked No. 128 in the country last year.
