Alabama Football: Ranking 5 worst losses in program history
By James Bowers
Alabama football is one of the most storied programs in the history of the sport but the Crimson Tide have had some really bad losses over the years.
The Alabama program has a seat at college football’s VIP table. In it’s nearly 130-year existence, Alabama football has seen a staggering 17 national championships, 31 conference titles (27 SEC and four in the Southern Conference).
The past decade, in particular, has been particularly sweet for UAT’s gridiron outfit, as coaching wizard Nick Saban built the Tide into a near-impenetrable force, winning five national championships, a slew of conference titles and producing the school’s first pair of Heisman winners.
Still, the program has had its fair share of appearances in the loss column over the years.
From the image of a forlorn Joe Namath and Bear Bryant after a 1965 Orange Bowl defeat, to the dismal mid-oughts reign of Mike Shula, the Tide has not always rolled.
We’ll take a look at some of Alabama’s lowlights over the years. Here are the five worst losses in Alabama Crimson Tide history.
