Yet another opponent on the 2020 schedule with a first or second-year coach at the helm, West Virginia is now led by Neal Brown who won five games in 2019 and finally found his quarterback in Jarre Doege at the end of the season.

With Doege under center, the Mountaineers will improve on the offensive side of the ball, especially with two of the top three receivers returning. If they can finally develop a run game, West Virginia could make some noise in 2020.

The defense, led by Vic Koenning, ranked just 74th last season but six starters should help turn things around. West Virginia should be a solid bowl team.

Gary Patterson isn’t accustomed to struggling and when his Horned Frogs went 5-7 in 2019, everyone just assumed it was an outlier. He’ll get this team back to contention in 2020.

How? He has finally found his starting quarterback in Max Duggan who broke out as a freshman, passing for 2,007 yards and 15 touchdowns as well as 555 rushing yards and six scores. If he lives up to the hype as a sophomore, TCU could be a Big 12 contender.

The Horned Frogs bring back just four starters on defense but this side of the ball will be a strength after being the Big 12’s best a season ago.
