North Texas football will be looking to bounce back from an injury-filled 4-8 season in 2019 and looking to make a bowl game in 2020.
When head coach Seth Littrell took over the North Texas football program in 2016, he was taking over a team that had just finished 1-11. He took them to a bowl the next season and his first three seasons and North Texas football seemed to be a program on the rise.
Then 2019 turned out to be a disappointing season with starting quarterback Mason Fine struggling to stay healthy and the offense slipping a little bit due to the departure of offensive coordinator Graham Harrell, who left to take the same position at USC.
The Mean Green will be hoping a new co-offensive coordinator and new defensive coordinator will help turn things around and get the Mean Green back to a bowl game.
North Texas will have a difficult non-conference schedule that will include Texas A&M, Houston and SMU, and that will make it difficult to reach six wins and get back to the postseason.
They will have to find a new starter at quarterback and replace three starting linemen on offense, but this is an exciting group of playmakers at wide receiver and running back to work with.
The defense has some playmakers in the front-seven and was disruptive at times last season, but they will need to find more consistency to be a better defense than they were in 2020.
