San Jose State football had its best season since 2015 last year but needs to improve by one game to end its four-year bowl drought in 2020.

After three straight lost seasons, the San Jose State Spartans nearly found themselves back in a bowl game in 2019 but fell one win short as they finished the year 5-7.

Despite missing out on postseason play, the Spartans picked up wins over an SEC foe in Arkansas, a strong Army team and came within 10 points of upsetting conference champion Boise State.

In 2020, the Spartans will need to improve their win total by just one in order to reach a bowl game. That’s exactly what head coach Brent Brennan plans to do entering his fourth season as Spartans head coach.

While the team lost their starting quarterback in Josh Love and leading tackler in Ethan Aguayo, there’s still enough talent returning and on their way to San Jose that will make picking up that extra win very possible.

Can the Spartans put together six wins and improve their reputation of Mountain West Conference laughing stock in 2020? Here’s an in-depth preview of what’s in store for San Jose State in 2020.
