Troy football will be looking to make big improvements in 2020 from a disappointing year in 2019 and with young rising talent, the blueprint is there.

The Troy Trojans are looking ahead to the 2020 season with a sense of renewed optimism. The Trojans had a disappointing 2019 season with a record of 5-7, which was good enough for them to finish fourth in the Sun Belt East.

Despite the disappointing season for the Trojans, it’s evident that losing a coach of the caliber of Neil Brown will have a setback in terms of success. Especially when you talk about a football program that is not at the top of its conference much less its state.

Needless to say, the 2019 season was a rebuilding year for Troy. Bringing in Chip Lindsey was a bold move for the program but when you are in a state competing to recruit high school kids in the same state as Alabama and Auburn, you are at the bottom end of the stick.

Troy has a strong football history of pulling off major upsets against big time competition. And with Lindsey at the helm for his second season, it is now the perfect time to create some stability within the football program and build a foundation that will be one for the making.

With a strong offensive unit coming back for the year and a defense that will have to prove itself being a better unit with young underdeveloped talent, there are a lot of questions that will be answered on if whether if this year’s Troy Trojans football team can take that next step into becoming a perennial powerhouse in the Sun Belt.
