3. JT Daniels is raw, has untapped potential

If there’s a system that could benefit a raw talent like JT Daniels, it’s Georgia’s. Kirby Smart turned Jake Fromm into an NFL quarterback and even had a guy like Jacob Eason leave the program and get drafted elsewhere because the competition at quarterback was so intense. The same could be said for Justin Fields.

Daniels started as a true freshman and looked to be getting better heading into his sophomore year and was showing it in the season opener, but then the injury happened. He never got to prove himself as anything more than a raw talent who had a solid 2018 season.

Clay Helton and Co. didn’t quite tap into Daniels’ potential the way Todd Monken will starting in 2020 and it all begins with working to make sure his accuracy continues to improve.

The sophomore quarterback came to USC as a highly-accurate passer with above average arm strength and we saw glimpses of that with the Trojans. There needs to be more consistency, but the fact that he threw for over 2,800 yards and 15 touchdowns and hasn’t even scratched the surface of his potential is a scary thought for his competition (Jamie Newman) and the rest of the SEC.
