Georgia Football: 3 reasons JT Daniels should start in 2020
2. JT Daniels has elite-level arm talent
Although he didn’t get to show it much at USC, JT Daniels has an elite arm.
Coming to USC, he was ranked the No. 16 recruit in the country and the second-best pro-style passer by 247Sports. He was considered one of the more purely talented passers and his accuracy was a major plus, followed closely behind by arm strength. Both of those were shown in a short time at USC and if he had never gotten injured, he’d probably still be the Trojans’ QB1.
An injury cut his sophomore season short during the season opener after he had completed 25-of-34 passes for 215 yards and a touchdown against Fresno State. Kedon Slovis then took over and the rest is history.
Daniels missed the remainder of the season, but no one had forgotten the performance he put together during his freshman campaign. In fact, he passed for 2,672 yards and 14 touchdowns with 10 interceptions, completing 60 percent of his passes.
That arm talent was evident early on when he was thrown into the fire as a true freshman and he was expected to break out as a sophomore, but injuries changed that.
We’ll see his elite arm talent on display at Georgia this upcoming season, especially with elite targets surrounding him.
