Pick Analysis. 829. Scouting Report. Nov. 7. Baton Rouge (La.). Alabama Crimson Tide. 9. player

In what is always one of the most anticipated matchups of the college football season, LSU and Alabama has been the premier game in the SEC for much of the past decade and this year’s version should be another classic.

Prior to last year’s epic win, LSU had lost eight straight to the Crimson Tide and in most of those games, struggled to put up any points. That all changed last season when Joe Burrow guided LSU to their first victory over Alabama since 2011 and put up 46 points in the process.

This year has the potential to be another shootout.

Alabama is bringing back offensive weapons such as Najee Harris, Jaylen Waddle, Devonta Smith and even Mac Jones looked capable in limited action next year. LSU’s offense and defense should be well-rounded and gained plenty of experience by the time this game rolls around.

With the game in Death Valley, it’s tempting to pick the Tigers in what would be considered a mild upset. I think the Crimson Tide will be playing with a purpose this season after missing out on the playoff last season and will get the victory in another instant classic.

Final Score: LSU 35, Alabama 40 (7-2, 4-1)

In an SEC matchup that has been very one sided, LSU will have its final home game against South Carolina and will look to shake off a tough loss the previous week to Alabama.

South Carolina needs a big season from Will Muschamp if he is going to continue on as the head coach in Columbia. The Gamecocks are bringing in former Georgia offensive coordinator and Colorado State head coach Mike Bobo to run the offense and he will be working with a talented quarterback in Ryan Hiinski.

This is a big year for Muschamp and he is going to have to get back to a bowl game and win a couple of these marquee games that are on the schedule. LSU is on a different level than South Carolina and it is going to show in this game.

Final Score: LSU 42, South Carolina 20 (8-2, 5-1)
