SEC Football: Top 50 players entering the 2020 season
If this list was based on the best names in the SEC, Auburn’s Big Kat Bryant would probably be No. 1, instead he checks in at No. 40 among the best players in the conference.
The rising senior played in 12 games for the Tigers last season recording 16 total tackles, two tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. He enters 2020 on Athlon’s preseason All-SEC first team.
Kentucky’s Jamar “Boogie” Watson is among the SEC’s most talented pass rushers. The rising senior has totaled 13.5 sacks and 18.5 tackles for loss in his first three college seasons.
In 2019, Watson recorded 6.5 sacks, 11.5 tackles for loss, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery to help guide UK to a second straight bowl victory.
Watson enters his senior season on Athlon’s second-team All-SEC defense.
Ole Miss running back and return man Jerrion Ealy put together a monster freshman season in 2019. He ran for 722 yards while averaging 6.9 yards per carry with six touchdowns while also hauling in 20 passes for 172 yards and a score.
On special teams, Ealy returned 13 kicks for an average of 24.4 yards per return with one touchdown. He was named both to the All-SEC second team and to the 2019 SEC All-Freshman Team by league’s coaches.
He enters 2020 on Athlon’s preseason All-SEC first team as a kick returner.
Kentucky right tackle and rising junior Darian Kinnard may be the SEC’s most underrated offensive lineman.
Last season, he was named second team nationally by Pro Football Focus as he had 32 knockdowns and committed just one penalty despite playing 706 snaps.
Kinnard enters 2020 on Athlon’s All-SEC first team, All-American second team and as Cole Cubelic’s third-best offensive tackle in the league.
Florida’s ball-hawking corner Marco Wilson is among the best corners the SEC has to offer. He picked off three passes in 2019 while recording 36 total tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss.
In his first three college seasons, Wilson has defended 13 passes with three interceptions. He was named to the SEC all-freshman team in 2017 after breaking up 10 passes.
He enters his redshirt junior season on Athlon’s preseason All-SEC third team.
