SEC Football: Top 50 players entering the 2020 season
After missing the entire 2019 season due to injury, Alabama’s Dylan Moses enters 2020 with expectations of being a first-round draft choice in the 2021 NFL Draft.
As a freshman in 2017, Moses helped lead Alabama to a national title by recording 30 total tackles with 5.5 coming for a loss and 1.5 sacks. He also grabbed an interception and forced a fumble. In 2018, he led the Tide back to the national title game by recording 86 total tackles with 10 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks and a forced fumble.
Moses enters the 2020 season on both Athlon’s All-SEC first team and first-team All-American squad.
Jamie Newman will play his graduate transfer year as the Georgia Bulldogs starting quarterback after an outstanding run at Wake Forrest.
Newman was named 2018 Birmingham Bowl MVP after throwing for 328 yards and a touchdown while rushing for three scores to lead the Demon Deacons past Memphis. In 2019 he threw for 2,868 yards with 26 touchdowns and just 11 interceptions while adding 574 yards and had six scores on the ground.
He enters 2020 on Athlon’s All-SEC first team.
In his first year as Auburn’s starting middle linebacker in 2019, K.J. Britt has established himself as one of the SEC’s best.
Britt recorded 68 total tackles with 10 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks. He added two forced fumbles and a pass breakup to earn first-team All-SEC honors.
He enters his junior season on Athlon’s preseason All-SEC first team.
Auburn signal-caller Bo Nix was tremendous as a true freshman in 2019. He set freshman program records with 2,542 passing yards and 16 touchdown passes while adding 313 yards and seven scores on the ground.
On top of that, he was named SEC freshman of the week twice, including once after leading the Tigers to a comeback win over Oregon in his college debut and he finished the year as the 2019 SEC Freshman of the Year.
Nix enters 2020 on Athlon’s preseason All-SEC third-team.
Former Last Chance U star Rakeem Boyd, will enter his senior season at Arkansas looking to solidify himself among the top running back draft prospects for 2021.
After rushing for 734 yards and two touchdowns in 2018, Boyd ran for an outstanding 1,113 yards and eight scores while adding 160 receiving yards. He finished fourth in the SEC and 27th nationally with an average of 94.4 rushing yards per game and ninth in the conference with 6.2 yards per carry.
He enters 2020 on Athlon’s All-SEC second team.
