Maryland football got off to a hot start in 2019 but could not maintain that momentum. In year two of the Mike Locksley, it’ll look to improve.

Two weeks into the 2019 season, it looked as if the Maryland Terrapins had the best offense in the nation and were on their way to a bowl game.

The Terps ran over Howard 79-0 to open the season and then pounded then ranked No. 21 Syracuse 63-20 to start the year 2-0, outscoring opponents 142-20.

Earning a surprise spot in the top 25 at No. 21 the following week, the season began to crash and burn as the Terps fell to Temple and went on to lose nine of their last 10 games with their lone win coming against a woeful Rutgers team.

In 2020, the Terps will look to start and stay hot as they enter the second year of the Mike Locksley era. He was Maryland’s offensive coordinator from 2012-15 and had a short stint as the Terps interim head coach in 2015.

Locksley then left for Alabama, where he was the co-offensive coordinator and receivers coach for the Tide’s 2017 national title-winning team and the offensive coordinator in 2018.

In year two of his tenure as Terps head coach, Locksley will be looking to build off the first two games of his first year and put the final 10 in the past.

Here’s a look at what may be in store for the Maryland Terrapins in 2020.
