2. LV Bunkley-Shelton, Wide Receiver

With Brandon Aiyuk — who led the team in receptions, receiving yards, and tied for the lead in receiving touchdowns — now in the NFL, there’s gonna be plenty of opportunities for guys in the receivers room to step up.

The Sun Devils’ second-leading receiving in 2019 Kyle Williams is now gone, too. The only returning receiver with over 15 catches is deep-play threat Frank Darby.

Freshman LV Bunkley-Shelton will likely get a lot of snaps and has a real shot of becoming a playmaker. The 6-foot, 180-pound talent from California was a four-star recruit and the No. 25 wide receiver in the 2020 class, according to 247Sports.

Their scouting report of him when he was in high school said, “Bunkley-Shelton has grown over the last year. He put on muscle while improving his speed and quickness. He’s a fantastic route runner and has excellent hands. He’s more quick than fast, but shows explosiveness getting in and out of his breaks. Is very good after the catch. He’s a natural slot receiver but has the versatility to move.”

Bunkley-Shelton looks like he’ll get action in the slot to start this season. With the lack of guys at the receiver spot, he has a big opportunity to step in and become one of quarterback Jayden Daniels’ top targets.
