Ohio football has been bowl eligible for 11 consecutive seasons under Frank Solich. Can they make it 12 during the 2020 season?

Frank Solich has done an outstanding job since taking the Ohio Bobcats head coaching job in 2005. In those 15 seasons, he has become the program’s all-time winningest coach and has taken the Bobcats to 11 bowl games. He is also one of two coaches with a .500 or better winning percentage.

Solich and the Bobcats have been bowl eligible for 11 consecutive seasons — they were not invited to a bowl in 2014 — and have won three straight postseason games.

This season, however, might be challenging to keep that streak alive.

In Group of Five conferences like the MAC, continuity counts for a lot. The Bobcats are 68th in returning production, but their output is more about who they lose than how much they lost to graduation this offseason.

Where they lost most of their production was on defense, returning only 58 percent of their output. There are lots of redshirts on the roster and depth chart this season in Athens, Ohio. This season is a test of how well Solich and his staff have developed defensive players.

Can the Bobcats continue their postseason streak and winning ways this season? Can Solich and the Bobcats win their first conference title since 1968?
