There’s not a quarterback in the Pac-12 with more pressure than Dorian Thompson-Robinson. A season that lands him on any Heisman watch list means possibly saving head coach Chip Kelly’s job. The Bruins have not had a winning record or made it to the postseason during the former Oregon head coach’s tenure.

If the offense is to take a step forward, that means Thompson-Robinson has to take a step forward. He has all of the tools to be one of the most dangerous quarterbacks in the Pac-12. He has the arm to make every throw in the offense and can make plays with his legs.

In order for the Bruins to make a run, they will have to do it with an offensive line that will likely start three redshirt freshmen. Thompson-Robinson is the best offensive option for the Bruins and will have to give a Cam Newton-like performance in order for UCLA to make a run.

Thompson-Robinson does have leading receiver Kyle Phillips returning.

The Bruins lost Joshua Kelley, but Demetric Felton is a capable all-purpose back who is as reliable as a receiver as he is a runner. This is a group of young receivers that will look to Thompson-Robinson for leadership. He has to give that to them.
