5. Jerome Ford, RB (Alabama to Cincinnati)

Jerome Ford‘s name won’t come up in many top-five lists, but the young running back can play.

As a four-star recruit at a Florida high school, Ford committed to play at Alabama. Quickly though, he’d learn that playing time is hard to come by at this college football powerhouse as he was stuck deep in the depth chart behind Najee Harris and Brian Robinson.

After redshirting his freshman season, he found himself in the end zone three times in his second year while tacking on over 100 yards. This was mostly in garbage time though, and it wasn’t looking like he was going to earn more playing time any time soon.

And thus, he transferred to a smaller, but still respectable school in Cincinnati.

As a Bearcat, he’ll join a rushing attack that finished 25th in the country, but lost their starting back. They’ll return senior Gerrid Doaks, who compiled 526 yards and five touchdowns last year. Ford will add to this promising rushing attack and will be a big contributor on a team that has won 11 games in back-to-back seasons.
