Washington football’s defense is full of talent and will have plenty of guys competing for an All Pac-12 nomination. Who could earn the honors?

In Jimmy Lake’s first season as head coach at Washington there’s going to be a major difference between the two sides of the ball.

On offense, with Jacob Eason no longer around, Jacob Sirmon, Dylan Morris and Ethan Garbers will be battling for the starting job, with almost zero starting experience between the group. Last season’s leading rusher and top two leading receivers are gone. The offensive line remains mostly intact but clearly there’s a lot of inexperience on offense.

On the other side of the ball there’s a ton of returning talent for a group that finished strong last year, allowing 11.8 points per game in their last four.

The Huskies were a bit of a disappointment last year as Eason and the offense never really clicked how a lot of people thought they would.

The defense was very young with 10 new starters and was put in a difficult situation to have success early on in their careers. This season, the defense should be the much better unit and will be one of the best defenses in the Pac-12 and could end up being one of the better groups in the country.

After two Huskies made the All-Pac-12 first team in 2019, there’s a lot of guys who have a shot to compete for a spot this season.

Here’s three guys on this Huskies’ defense looking to join that elite company.
