Arguably the biggest talent on this list, Dont’e Thornton would be a huge recruiting victory for the Irish, but the chances right now are slim.

The Baltimore-native is currently a hard Oregon lean and is planning on committing in January, so there’s time for the Irish to make up some ground. Virginia, USC, Arizona State and Florida State are also pushing hard for him, so landing the four-star from the East Coast won’t be easy.

Thornton is ranked the No. 51 overall recruit and sixth-best receiver in the 2021 class, according to the 247Sports composite. He’s one of the best wide outs in the class and his size sets him apart. In fact, he stands 6-foot-4.5 and 185 pounds and runs a 4.63 40-yard dash.

If his size doesn’t get Notre Dame fans excited, his NFL comparison of Kenny Golladay should. Brian Dohn of 247Sports compared him to Golladay and said that he looks like a future 2-3 round pick.

Notre Dame needs some skill position players to add depth and Thornton would be a home run addition.
