Georgia football: Updated game-by-game predictions for 2020 season
Georgia football has as much talent as any team in the country and are hoping new coordinator and scheme on offense can make the Dawgs playoff bound.
For all of the talent that Georgia football has amassed under head coach Kirby Smart, there are plenty of questions that need answering before the the Bulldogs start conference-only play on Sept. 26.
Georgia has the most fascinating quarterback battle in the country that was once that to be a given. Wake Forest transfer Jamie Newman was thought to be the undisputed guy when he transferred to Athens in January, but the recent arrival of former USC quarterback JT Daniels has made this a true quarterback competition.
Whoever wins the quarterback job will be working with new offensive coordinator Todd Monken, who has spent the last five seasons in the NFL, but has been a coordinator at the collegiate level at Oklahoma State and was the head coach at Southern Mississippi. Monken will have to find a new leading rusher and four new starting offensive linemen.
For all of the questions on the offensive side of the ball, the defensive side does not have many. The Bulldogs return nine starters on what was one of the best defenses in the country last season. One area that Georgia will need to improve on defensively is rushing the passer, as the Bulldogs were not very consistent at getting to the quarterback last fall.
Georgia will have the best secondary in the conference though with Richard Lecounte, Eric Stokes and Tyson Campbell returning.
The Bulldogs have some questions, but with an enormous amount of talent, expect the Bulldogs to make a playoff push this season.
