Pick Analysis. 2. 877. Scouting Report. OC. Senior. Chase Behrndt. player

Senior Chase Behrndt is one of the most versatile players for Neal Brown and the Mountaineers, piling up 13 starts in 24 career games. Over the course of that three-year playing career, Behrndt has played all three positions along the offensive line, too — tackle, guard, and center, where he’ll likely start in 2020.

As a junior, the 6-foot-4, 315-pound center started 10 games for West Virginia — six at right guard and the last four at center. And while the Mountaineers struggled as a unit to run the ball, Behrndt impressed in the passing game and didn’t give up a single sack.

Following the Mountaineers preseason practice on Monday, the head coach gave a shout-out to the Missouri-native for his efforts, “He [Behrndt] has continued to play at a high level, and he’s growing in a leadership role.”

The 2020 offseason has been an unusual one, to say the least, but if Behrndt is able to elevate the play of fellow trench-men Michael Brown, James Gmiter, John Hughes, Junior Uzebu and others, the Mountaineers could surprise opponents early on.
