With Mike Leach running the show, anything could happen with Mississippi State football. Look out for these three guys to compete for All-SEC honors.

With the Pirate now running the show in Starkville, Mississippi State could become a really fun team to watch in 2020. Mike Leach is known for his press conferences and his pass heavy air-raid system, but he is an underrated coach. He had plenty of success at a program in Washington State that isn’t known for its football program.

With the lack of recruiting assets, Leach was able to field good teams and get the most out of his guys. I’m really excited to see what Leach can do with the resources of an SEC program.

It’s likely going to be a few years before the Bulldogs are competing for the top spot in the SEC, if they ever do, but I’ll be tuning into their games every week regardless. Leach’s offensive system is a lot of fun to watch and I’m very interested to see if he’ll be able to translate it over to the tougher defenses he’ll be facing in the SEC.

Regardless of how the Bulldogs season goes, under Leach expect multiple guys on the offensive side of the ball to put up monster numbers. The defensive struggled last season and is now under a new defensive coordinator in Zach Arnett. Mississippi State clearly lacks talent compared to the top teams in the conference and there could be some growing pains this season.

The Bulldogs likely won’t be finishing towards the top of the West division, but if they want to stay towards the middle and be competitive in games, these three guys are going to have to be playmakers week in and week out.
