Georgia Football: 3 breakout candidates for Bulldogs in 2020
By John Vogel
Did you think that Georgia was going to miss Tae Crowder, the New York Giants seventh-round pick? The feeling may have been short-lived.
Georgia coaches are ranting and raving about the arrival of Mekhail (MJ) Sherman, the high four-star prospect who was honored as one of the five Butkus Award finalists for best high school linebacker. As a rare junior invite, he clocked a 4.53 40-yard dash at the 2018 Nike The Opening finals, the fastest among all of the linebackers.
“MJ is a tremendous person,” the report from DawgsDaily reads. “He’s got a great mindset, he’s hungry, comes from a really good family, works really hard, and he’s conscientious. He’s got all of those things and then he’s got strength, power, and agility which we think can be a good asset for him moving forward.”
At 6-foot-2 and 235 pounds, Sherman is already one of the bigger bodies in the linebacker room. With his rare athleticism and strength, Sherman can make a huge impact alongside the returning starters, Monty Rice and Azeez Okulari.
