Texas A&M football returns one of the most talented rosters in the SEC for 2020 and here’s what the Aggies need to do in order to contend.

After a 17-9 start to his career in College Station, Jimbo Fisher will be looking to take the Aggies to the top of the SEC in 2020.

The Aggies had one of the most difficult schedules in college football history last season. They faced the No. 1 team three separate times as well as going up against the top three ranked teams from the preseason AP Top 25 rankings. Given their extremely young roster and that gauntlet of a schedule, winning eight games seems like a successful season.

The program isn’t paying Jimbo $75 million for eight-win seasons, however; the Aggies want to seriously compete for a national title. If Fisher and the Aggies are ever going to reach that goal they’ll need to win against the top programs in the SEC. Over the last two seasons under Jimbo, eight of the Aggies’ nine losses have come against Alabama, Clemson, Auburn, Georgia and LSU.

This season, the Aggies will be facing Alabama, Florida, LSU and Auburn and will need to at least split those four games to have a shot at playing in the conference championship. This year’s roster is the most talented and experienced group Fisher has had and has Aggies fans excited.

It won’t be an easy season and a few things are going to need to change if the Aggies want to finish at the top of the SEC.
