The past two seasons for Miami football have been ones to forget, but can the Hurricanes get past recent plunders and make the ACC title game in 2020?

The 2017 season for the Miami Hurricanes had some thinking they would dethrone Clemson as the top team in the ACC for the next few years.

The Hurricanes started the 2017 season 10-0 and were on a collision course with the Clemson Tigers in the ACC title game, and potentially, the College Football Playoff. However, the Hurricanes train quickly derailed, as they lost their final three games by a combined score of 96-41. And those final three games were a foreshadow of what would occur in 2018 and 2019.

In the past two seasons, the Hurricanes have gone 13-13 (8-8), registered multiple three-plus game losing streaks and finished 2019 with losses to FIU, Duke and Louisiana Tech. It was a complete 180 for Miami, but all hope is not lost for the Hurricanes.

The Hurricanes made a major acquisition this offseason when Houston quarterback D’Eriq King announced he would be transferring to Miami to finish his college career. In 2018, King had 2,982 passing yards and 36 touchdowns, while completing 63 percent of his passes, and had another 674 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground. King is one of the nation’s best dual-threat quarterbacks and enters 2020 as a top-five Heisman candidate.

So with a new QB1 and an altered schedule, can the Hurricanes turn things around in 2020 and get back to the ACC Championship game? The answer is yes, they can. But it will be no easy task in doing so.

Let’s take a look at the Miami Hurricanes before the 2020 season gets started.
