837. Ames (Iowa). Oct. 3. Iowa State Cyclones. 3. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis

Ever since Matt Campbell took over the Iowa in 2016, he has instilled them to be a tough and physical football team that is capable of competing with anyone in the Big 12. The Cyclones used to be the laughing stock of the conference and Campbell has turned them into a team that nobody wants to play and that won’t change in 2020.

Iowa State will be bringing back star quarterback Brock Purdy and tight end Charlie Kolar and the Cyclones hope that with some better close game luck, they can challenge for the Big 12 title this season.

This will be Spencer Rattler’s first big road test against a good opponent and fans or no fans, Ames can be a tough place to play. Getting the Sooners early in the season is a big win for Iowa State and I think they have enough to pull off the upset thanks to a big game from Purdy.

Final Score: Oklahoma 28, Iowa State 31 (2-1, 1-1)

Oct. 10. Dallas (Texas). Texas Longhorns. 4. player. Pick Analysis. 851. Scouting Report

In what is one of the most anticipated games of the season regardless of record, Texas and Oklahoma still plan on meeting in the Cotton Bowl for their annual rivalry game and this year’s edition should be a high-stakes matchup with a possible spot in the Big 12 title game on the line.

Texas has restructured its coaching staff, hiring Mike Yurich away from Ohio State to be the new offensive coordinator and former Rutgers head coach and Ohio State assistant Chris Ash will be the new defensive coordinator. The Longhorns return quarterback Sam Ehlinger for his senior season and have been recruiting at the top of the country, so Texas enters 2020 with expectations.

I think Oklahoma will be fresh off of a loss to Iowa State and will be extra motivated to earn another victory over the Longhorns. Texas will be healthier on defense this season, but I don’t think it will be enough to stop another exciting Oklahoma offense. Sooners win in another Red River classic.

Final Score: Oklahoma 42, Texas 38 (3-1, 2-1)
