With Jamie Newman to sit out the 2020 season, according to sources, is incoming USC transfer J.T. Daniels ready to lead Georgia football to SEC supremacy?

In some surprising news, sources are reporting that Georgia’s presumed starter at quarterback, Jamie Newman, will sit out the 2020 season and begin preparing for the 2021 NFL Draft in April.

Many will analyze Newman’s precise motives in the coming days and weeks as the 2020 football season gets underway this weekend for several FBS teams. The Wake Forest transfer was expected to have the inside edge on the starting quarterback position for a team that finished No. 4 in the final 2019 AP poll.

Georgia suffered a disappointing upset loss to South Carolina and was dominated by LSU in the SEC title game, but the Bulldogs remain one of the nation’s most talented teams entering this fall.

Daniels, a transfer from USC, suffered an ACL injury in the Trojans’ season opener against Fresno State in 2019.  He has not been cleared for full contact yet with the Bulldogs, though he did participate in a team intrasquad scrimmage last Saturday. He did not join the team until July.
