3. Favorable SEC home games

Besides Alabama on Oct. 17, the Bulldogs’ revamped schedule with only SEC teams sees its most difficult opponents coming to visit the friendly confines of Sanford Stadium. Auburn, Tennessee, and Florida are all scheduled play Georgia between the hedges this fall.

As far as the Crimson Tide are concerned, it would be foolish to ever think you’re catching Nick Saban’s team at a good time. However, Alabama has lost two experienced hands each of the past two seasons at quarterback in Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa, both 2020 NFL Draft selections.

The 2018 SEC championship game, in which Alabama engineered a come-from-behind 35-28 victory against the Bulldogs, removes the “invincible” aura from the Crimson Tide in Georgia’s eyes. Head coach Kirby Smart’s program knows it can compete against one of the best in college football, and the October showdown at Bryant-Denny Stadium will be a fascinating one to watch regardless of who is at signal-caller.

It doesn’t hurt to have dates with Vanderbilt and Mississippi State, either. The SEC’s other Bulldogs have beaten Georgia only once since 1974, and Vanderbilt is, well, Vanderbilt.
