Navy football was not prepared to play after not playing live all throughout summer and fall camps. Here are three takeaways from the brutal loss.

The BYU Cougars defeated the Naval Academy 55-3 in the third meeting all-time between the two schools. Very quickly, it became very evident that BYU was bigger, more physical, and more athletic than Navy across the board.

The dominant performance certainly makes BYU’s upcoming game against Army on Sept. 19 all the more intriguing.

Navy head coach Ken Nuamatalolo admitted that his Midshipmen hadn’t been “live” in practice for months. In other words, the contact that naturally occurs in the sport of football hadn’t been experienced by Navy since before the start of COVID-19 for safety purposes.

This was very obvious from the first snap of the game.
