1. Cam’Ron Harris took advantage of poor run defense

UAB’s front-seven was given much praise heading into this game and while they rushed the passer pretty well, the run defense was atrocious and the tackling was just plain bad.

The Blazers gave up 337 yards rushing to the Hurricanes and there were several missed tackles at the line of scrimmage that sprung the Miami running backs free.

Cam’Ron Harris rushed for 134 yards on just 17 carries and averaged nearly 8 yards per carry with two touchdowns. Now I know that some of D’Eriq King’s rushing yards came on broken plays and scrambles, but even if you factor those out, UAB’s defense still gave up way too many yards.

That kind of defense is not going to cut it if UAB is hoping to challenge for the C-USA title and they will need to improve and improve quickly.
