West Virginia football hosts Eastern Kentucky on Saturday to kick off the 2020 season. Here are three bold predictions for their season opener.

Neal Brown and West Virginia football will finally take to Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium on Saturday when the Eastern Kentucky Colonels travel to Morgantown. And after going 5-7 in year one, year two’s expectations are much higher.

The original schedule was slated for West Virginia to play Florida State in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game in Atlanta, but we all know what transpired to shake things up on the schedule. Fortunately, the Mountaineers were able to find an opponent in Eastern Kentucky.

Having already played a game, the EKU Colonels might pose a different threat to the Mountaineers than they did to Marshall, though. That first game is often a feeling-out process for teams, but losing 59-0 is a tough game to draw any positives from. They won’t have to deal with 60,000 Mountaineer Maniacs cheering, so I guess there is one positive.

Enough with the small talk, though, it’s time to play some football. But first, check out these bold predictions for the Mountaineers’ first contest of the 2020 football season.
