1. We need to worry about Brock Purdy

Before the season, Brock Purdy was talked about as one of the dark-horse Heisman Trophy contenders and many believed he would be the best quarterback in the Big 12.

That seemed like a silly prediction on Saturday.

In fact, he looked like the second-best quarterback on the field as Levi Lewis had a better day. Purdy finished with a measly 145 yards and an interception on 16-of-35 completions. It was an overall nightmare of a day for the junior quarterback and maybe it’s time to worry just a little bit about his progress.

Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt here, though.

Purdy improved from his freshman to his sophomore year, but the 2019 season got off to an equally slow start as it did against Louisiana as he needed three overtimes to put away Northern Iowa at home. Maybe he just gets off to slow starts.

Plus, Charlie Kolar was out and the receiving corps weren’t creating a ton of separation against the Ragin’ Cajuns’ secondary.

Should we be worried? Slightly, but let’s give it a couple more weeks before we hit the panic button on the junior gunslinger.
