1. Louisville’s defense improved

One area of improvement that was the biggest area of concern was their defense and rightfully so. Last season, they were ranked near the bottom in the FBS in every important defensive stat.

After moving multiple players to a new position and watching a handful of others leave the program via the transfer portal, defensive coordinator Bryan Brown had arguably the most difficult challenge of anyone outside of Scott Satterfield.

Despite on a drive where they allowed WKU to move the ball down the field and score late in the fourth quarter, the defense was stout all night, giving the Hilltoppers’ offense no opportunities to score.

Louisville’s next opponent is at home against the Miami Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC. College GameSay will be down in Louisville for the primetime matchup.
