College football 2020: Ranking the 3 worst losses from Week 2

Week 2 of the 2020 season saw some big games and huge upsets among Power Five teams that will impact the College Football Playoff.

Week 2 of the 2020 season did not pull any punches as it was the first week of Power Five teams from the ACC and Big 12 playing. There was no shortage of great matchups and shocking upsets as there was a big impact in the College Football Playoff race.

In week 2, there were upsets from Group of Five teams and some disappointing results from Power Five programs expected to make a run for the playoff.

One of the most disappointing losses was by Florida State, dropping a game at home 16-13 to Georgia Tech. The Seminoles’ offense only accounted for 307 total yards and turned the ball over three times. Another bad loss was Syracuse’s 31-6 loss to North Carolina.

From the larger picture, the Big 12 had a disappointing weekend from an overall perspective. Three of its teams lost heavily-favored matchups against Sun Belt teams. These are Big 12 teams that expected to account for a better record than last season. One of them was a ranked team that was expected to compete for a Big 12 title and a potential playoff appearance.

Some of these losses are meaningful than the point differential.
