Loser: Iowa State (Unranked)

Iowa State came into the game ranked No. 23 in the AP Top 25, but with the new poll going to get rid of teams that are not playing this season, there was a real chance that Iowa State could have moved into the top 15 and got off to a great start on the season.

After a 17-point defeat at the hands of Louisiana, the Cyclones dropped out of this week’s AP poll and it will be a hard climb back up this season.

Iowa State struggled badly on offense, with star quarterback Brock Purdy having trouble with his accuracy and tight end Charlie Kolar not playing at all. The special teams unit for the Cyclones gave up some big plays and they just could not match the efficiency of Louisiana.

Don’t expect to see the Cyclones back in the poll anytime soon in 2020.

Loser: Army (No. 22)

Army is not a loser because of anything they have done on the field, because I think it has been one of the most impressive teams early on to me. The Black Knights are losers because they only come in at No. 22 on this week’s AP poll and I think that’s really disappointing because from an eye-test perspective, they should be a few spots higher.

The Black Knights are not being given enough credit because of the fact that they have faced a couple of below average teams in Middle Tennessee and UL-Monroe, but that shouldn’t take away from how dominant that Army has looked on both sides of the ball.

It was unfortunate that next week’s game against BYU was postponed because Army had a real chance to be on College GameDay and get some of the spotlight that both teams deserve.
