1. Kyren Williams is a true Heisman contender

This one might seem like a stretch and a ridiculous overreaction, but with very few elite performances on the ground in the first two weeks of the season, Kyren Williams stood out.

Our very own Nick Fiore even named him one of the top five contenders for the award after the second week of the season. He might just be No. 5 on the list because there are no SEC, Pac-12 or Big Ten teams with top players on it yet, but he’s off to a good start.

Williams had a great game in his first stint as the full-time starting running back. He had 19 carries for 112 yards and two touchdowns and two receptions for 93 yards. The sophomore had over 200 all-purpose yards and was the best player on the field between the two teams.

Notre Dame may have truly found something here in Williams.

It’s way too early to say if he’s a true Heisman threat yet, but if he can continue what he started against the Blue Devils, he may generate some hype.
