The rumors swirling around the Pac-12

The Pac-12 is rumored to be shooting for a restart the weekend of Oct. 31. This would be a tight schedule but would allow Pac-12 teams to stay in the hunt for a College Football Playoff appearance.

I would imagine that the conference would have to squeeze eight games over nine weeks and play their conference championship around Dec. 18-19. This schedule would allow them to stay in play for both a Playoff appearance and a New Year’s Six bowl game.

One of the biggest hurdles in the Pac-12 playing so far has been state governors holding up the ability to practice or play sports games with state-wide regulations. However, Thursday evening great progress was made with governors in California and Oregon to allow practices and games to be held and played in their states. This frees USC, UCLA, California, Oregon and Oregon State to play without restriction.

Schools told Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott that they could have their football teams ready to play in six weeks starting on Monday. The announcement seems imminent.
