Winner: Miami (Up to No. 12)

The clear winner from this weeks poll has to be the Hurricanes, who played in the biggest game on Saturday and made a statement in their 47-34 victory over the No. 18 ranked Louisville Cardinals.

The win warranted a move up from No. 17 to No. 12 and sets the Hurricanes up well for the future. Miami is obviously benefitting from not having any Big Ten teams or Pac-12 teams in the poll, but that should not take away how good the Hurricanes looked on Saturday, especially on offense.

Miami will need to get their focus back for their big rivalry game vs Florida State on Saturday. As bad as the Seminoles looked against Georgia Tech last Saturday, Miami will get the Seminoles’ best shot on Saturday because of the nature of rivalry games.

Mike Norvell will not coach for the Seminoles due to contracting COVID-19 and that will be a big loss for Florida State

Winner: Marshall (Up to No. 25)

Marshall was an impressive team a couple of weeks ago with their 59-0 victory over Eastern Kentucky and freshman quarterback Grant Wells looked like he could a future star.

There was still plenty of skepticism heading into the Herd’s first big test of the season against App State, who came into the game ranked No. 23. App state has been one of the best group of five teams the past couple of seasons and are always a tough out because of their defense and running game.

It wasn’t perfect, but Marshall got a huge victory and look like they could challenge for the spot in the New Year’s Six game for the Group of Five. Marshall’s defense created turnovers and really played well all around. Wells was not the same as he was in Week 1, throwing for only 168 yards and an interception, but Marshall appears to be a pretty well rounded football team that could be in for a big season.
