Loser: Louisville (No. 24)

As much as Miami was the clear winner of this weeks poll, Louisville has to be the clear loser. This was an opportunity for the Cardinals to show that they were a contender to get a spot in the ACC title game and that they were an improved team from last year.

What they showed Saturday night was that they look like the same team from last year, explosive at times on offense and just not very good on defense. The Cardinals needed to show that they were better on defense and that is not what happened, as Miami racked up nearly 500 yards of total offense.

Louisville will not have much time to regroup, as a pretty good Pitt team awaits them on Saturday. The Cardinals below a golden opportunity to move up in the rankings and get closer to the top 10 on Saturday, but with a victory on Saturday against Pitt, they could move back up a few spots to ease some of the pain from blowing an opportunity in prime time this past weekend against the Hurricanes.

Loser: Oklahoma State (No. 15)

Oklahoma State started out the day ranked 11th and favored by 23 points against Tulsa on Saturday, but by the end of the game, it was clear that the Cowboys were going to take a step back, after beating the Golden Hurricane by a score of 16-7.

Quarterback Spencer Sanders was injured and running back Chuba Hubbard could not get it going for most of the game. What wound up being an encouraging sign was how good the Cowboys defense played, as they held a pretty explosive Tulsa offense to only seven points, and that is impressive for a defense that was not very good last season.

Oklahoma State is still a talented team, but they are a clear loser from this week’s poll.
