Pitt football is playing as well as any ACC team not named Clemson or Miami this season and the Panthers have been rewarded with new uniforms.

What an interesting year it’s been for college football fans. Starting off with the cancellation of spring ball and then almost inevitable postponement of the 2020 season, everything has gotten a little closer to normalcy despite COVID-19 remaining a threat.

Pitt football has had an interesting start to the season as well after being one of those dark-horse picks to win the conference.

The Panthers have begun 2-0 with a 55-0 blowout win over Austin Peay followed by a less-than-stellar offensive performance in a victory over Syracuse.

Still, the Panthers are looking like a smart pick to win the conference, especially with one of the best defenses in the country which has allowed just 10 points through two games and less than 200 total yards in each win.

Pitt has been rewarded for its decent play with some new alternates. OK, so that’s not why they got new jerseys, but a fresh look for the Panthers is always noteworthy because they’ve been putting out some absolute fire alternates for years.

This one is no different.

As you can see, this is based off the “Steel City” which is Pittsburgh with the steel-themes helmets and numbers and the jersey looks to be black with a yellow decal.

Sure, it might look slightly like the Vegas Raiders, but these jerseys will look fresh with the Panther on the helmet and is different than anything they’ve run out before.

I’ve always been relatively biased towards black alternate jerseys even if that’s not a color of the team, but this look is awesome. Some old-school fans may not agree, but this appeals to the younger crowd and that’s what wins over recruits’ attention.
