With the addition of Florida and Tennessee to the schedule, Texas A&M football’s 2020 doesn’t seem so easy. How do the opponent rank in terms of toughness?

Texas A&M football faces 10 SEC opponents that will look to ruin what the Aggies originally perceived as “their year”. Now, the question is, how do these teams rank in terms of toughness? I have organized these teams into three tiers and will rank within those tiers.

The Cupcakes

3. South Carolina

The Gamecocks aren’t all that bad. Will Muschamp isn’t a horrible coach and they have talent on both sides of the ball, they always do. For heaven’s sake, they beat Georgia a year ago. With Jake Bentley transferring in December, it is all about Collin Hill and how he will function this year as the starting quarterback, just beating out Ryan Hilinski for that starting position.

This one could be called a toss-up, but until the Gamecocks figure out how to beat the Aggies — they are a cupcake in my book.

2. Arkansas

Are the Razorbacks all that bad? Well, in the recent past they have been. They’ve been struggling and that is putting it mildly. Now, it is all in the hands of new head coach Sam Pitman and Florida transfer Feleipe Franks to put things together and maybe finally beat the Aggies since Texas A&M joined the SEC for the 2012 football season. Until they beat the Aggies and get an SEC win or two though, they are a cupcake in my book just like South Carolina.

1. Vanderbilt

We all know that the Commodores aren’t exactly the football school of the SEC. With Derek Mason at the helm, they have been decent, but not great. They aren’t going to be much better this year in the football department, in my honest opinion. At least, they aren’t going to knock off the Aggies in Week 1 and that is what makes them a cupcake in my book.
