The third week of the 2020 college football season saw some of the toughest and most decisive losses so far in the young campaign.

After a colossal week for the Sun Belt in the second week of the season of three key upsets, college football fans were expecting even bigger things in the third week. Some rising stars took over to help their teams avoid some upsets as well as the first ranked matchup.

Several teams played their worst performances in this young season. These are losses that will be hard to come out of during the season and compete for their respective conference titles.

No. 11 Oklahoma State was almost the team that lost its chance for a College Football Playoff spot after it had to come from behind to beat Tulsa 16-7. It took a third-string quarterback in true freshman Shane Illingworth to bring the Cowboys back for a narrow victory.

The same could have been said for the cinderella team on steroids in No. 19 Louisiana after having to create a comeback against Georgia State. The Ragin’ Cajuns were not able to find a solution to their inefficiency until they won it in overtime 34-31. The Syracuse Orange are certainly one of the most disappointing teams with a significant 21-10 loss to No. 25 Pittsburgh.

While there have been some teams that barely survived the week, there are three teams whose conference titles and playoff chances are ruined due to terrible losses from Week 3 of the 2020 season.
