2. Georgia Tech crumbles at home to UCF

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets were feeling great on their 16-13 victory over the Florida State Seminoles in the previous week. They looking to take that positive momentum into their tough matchup as they hosted a ranked Knights team. Instead, the Yellow Jackets allowed UCF to go into halftime with a 28-14 lead.

The Knights outscored the Yellow Jackets in the fourth quarter 21-7.

The Knights out-gained the Yellow Jackets in total yards 660-471 as well as first downs 31-23. UCF’s defense forced five total turnovers on the offense for Georgia Tech including three fumbles and two interceptions. They turned the ball over twice in the narrow victory over Florida State in the previous week.

This Yellow Jackets’ defense was drained quickly into the fourth quarter as UCF ran 92 total offensive plays while Georgia Tech ran 81 plays — 51 of the plays for the Knights were on the ground for 243 yards and three touchdowns.

After the last Yellow Jackets’ touchdown, UCF scored 21 unanswered points while they encountered in three consecutive drives ending in a turnover on downs, a quick interception and a fumble. The Yellow Jackets were unable to get past mistakes as the Knights were thriving off those mistakes in between the drives of Georgia Tech.

The Yellow Jackets look to adjust more efficiently with their RPO offensive scheme as opposed to the triple-option they have implemented for many years. The Yellow Jackets (1-1, 1-0 ACC) will travel to face Syracuse (0-2, 0-2) as their chances for the playoff are now low but they are still in contention for the ACC title.
