Alabama football will look towards 2020 as their revenge season after missing the College Football Playoff for the first time ever last year.
In the FBS, two teams are considered an elite program. The No. 1 Clemson Tigers won the College Football Playoff National Championship in the 2018 season. The No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide remain an elite program as they won a national title in 2015 and 2017.
Before last season, the Tide have been to the College Football Playoff in each of the five seasons. This past season was the first time that the Tide missed the playoff. It was also the first time that Alabama did not go to a major bowl since 2010.
This season is a revenge tour for the Crimson Tide as they are looking to rebound after two disappointing losses caused by injuries. Head coach Nick Saban knows how to develop a team and motivate for a strong postseason push.
In the 12 seasons as head coach of the Crimson Tide, Saban has accumulated a 157-23 overall record including an 89-15 record in SEC play. In the past 11 seasons, when they started a trend of major postseason bowl appearances, the Tide have accounted for a 150-17 (85-11 SEC) record.
The Crimson Tide return as a team with NFL-caliber throughout each position group. They are projected to win the SEC and appear in the playoff after missing out last season. When a determined Crimson Tide team comes off a disappointing season — it is when they are at their most dangerous.
They will be strong competitors to go for their 18th national title in program history this season.
