Florida football is in an excellent position to win the SEC East and compete for a playoff spot due to great talent on both sides of the ball.

The SEC remains one of the most competitive conferences in all of college football. The No. 5 Florida Gators have a huge opportunity in the 2020 season to challenge Georgia in the SEC East.

The Gators are an elite program in the SEC that before 2018 has accounted for anything but consistently elite. Florida declined under the directions of former head coaches Will Muschamp and Jim McElwain in efficiency and accounting for wins.

Florida hoped that would be a different scenario under head coach Dan Mullen.

In the past two seasons under Mullen, the Gators have accounted for a 21-5 overall record including an 11-5 record in SEC play. Last year, the Gators started the season with a 6-0 streak as they finished with an 11-2 overall record. They finished ranked sixth in the nation, which the highest finished they had since they finished third in the BCS poll in 2009.

The Gators have a talented team on both sides of the ball of NFL-caliber players. They are projected to win the SEC East and go to the SEC title game against No. 2 Alabama. The Gators were lucky not to have to their additional SEC game against the Crimson Tide.

With the Gators looking to win the SEC East for the first time since 2016. With a talented roster, they have the tools to survive a 10-game SEC-only schedule and potentially go undefeated by the time they reach the SEC title game.
