After winning a national title, LSU football looks to start 2020 strong against the Mississippi State Bulldogs. Here’s what you need to know.

The LSU Tigers are the defending national champions and will look to build on that, despite losing everybody and their momma to the NFL.

On the other side, Mississippi State has a new coach and is looking to figure it out and start with a win in the Mike Leach era of Bulldog football.

There are more questions than answers for both sides and they each could have used a tune-up game, but here we are — starting with SEC play.

Here is how you can watch the matchup:

Date: Saturday, Sept. 26
Time: 3:30 pm ET
Location: Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Venue: Tiger Stadium
TV: CBS
Live Stream: CBS All Access

Keys to Victory

For LSU, it starts with Myles Brennan. He isn’t Joe Burrow and he never is going to be. However, the question is this- is he ready to jump into SEC play? What about KJ Costello for Mississippi State? He is a graduate transfer from Stanford and is ready to go in Leach’s system, or at least that is what they would have all of us believe.

For Mississippi State, it starts with the defense and the experience that is there. Is that enough to slow down Myles Brennan and the LSU offense? We will simply have to wait and see. They may rely on Kylin Hill more than you think, but only time will tell.

Prediction

While Mississippi State may put up a fight, the LSU Tigers are reloading and will be ready to go on both sides of the ball. Look for LSU to win this one by double digits and for Mississippi State to be reeling after an opening loss that they thought they would be able to fight better in.

Prediction: LSU 35, Mississippi State 14
