3. Alabama still has the nation’s best receivers

Losing two wide receivers in the first round would set back most team’s passing attacks. Good thing Alabama isn’t like most teams.

Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs were dynamic during their time at Tuscaloosa. But, DeVonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle are just as talented. This duo brings a perfect mix of styles for the receiver position. Both have amazing speed, but there are different levels to what they do with their speed.

Smith is an excellent route runner with great hands and can outrun most defensive backs in the country. Jaylen Waddle has unreal change of direction skills and is a monster if he gets the ball in open space.

Tonight was a prime example of what these guys can do when they’re on the top of their game. Smith was able to push the chains and haul in some tough catches, while Waddle made electric plays in open space.

This is a duo that will send chills down every SEC defensive coordinator this season. There were two games in the SEC in which 75-plus points were scored. I would think Alabama is licking their chops with games against Ole Miss, Mississippi State and LSU left on their schedule.
