2. Dylan Moses is a major key to this defense’s success

Last year was a different kind of season for the Crimson Tide. Their defense was not the dominant unit that they are normally expected to be. Let’s not get it twisted they were a good unit, just not the Alabama we come to expect.

This year may be different with Dylan Moses back in the fold at the middle linebacker position. He didn’t have an eye popping game in terms of stats. But Moses was flying all over the field, being a force that Missouri could not get past.

Moses put on a display of all of his NFL-caliber traits including: his sure tackling ability, closing speed, and pure toughness. He is surely NFL bound after this season, but for this season he will be tasked with being the leader of this Alabama defense.

For this game in particular, Alabama’s defensive line stepped up holding the Tigers to just 69 rushing yards on 34 carries. LaBryan Ray in particular was a problem finishing with four tackles and one sack. We will get a better sense of this Tide defense when they take a step up in competition, but they got off to a hot start.
