College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 5
By Zach Bigalke
It was not a happy Saturday in Norman in Week 4, as Oklahoma suffered an upset against Kansas State for the second straight year. The 38-35 loss at home is going to drop the Sooners down the AP Top 25 rankings, and they will likely fall out of the top 10 as a result of this disappointment. Given that Kansas State lost at home to a Sun Belt team two weeks ago, this result is all the more damning for Lincoln Riley’s team.
Spencer Rattler threw for 387 yards and four touchdowns, but the highly-touted redshirt freshman also heaved up three interceptions along the way. His counterpart, Skylar Thompson, threw for 334 yards on 16 fewer pass attempts and added three rushing touchdowns. Despite outgaining the Wildcats by more than 100 yards on offense, the Sooners failed to get any takeaways of their own.
Now Oklahoma must dust itself off and quickly recompose themselves. The Sooners head to Ames in Week 5 for a showdown against an Iowa State team that also lost to a Sun Belt opponent to start their season.
