College Football Rankings 2020: Projected AP Top 25 for Week 5
By Zach Bigalke
Despite their close call, Texas could actually move up a spot in this week’s AP Top 25 when the poll comes out on Sunday. The Longhorns needed a fourth-quarter comeback just to force overtime, with Sam Ehlinger connecting on a touchdown pass to Joshua Moore and then converting a two-point pass to Brennan Eagles with 40 seconds left in regulation. Texas ultimately survived their trip to Lubbock after pulling off a 63-56 overtime victory against Texas Tech.
Ehlinger finished with 262 passing yards and five touchdowns on 27-of-40 passing. The quarterback added 70 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground to will the Longhorns to victory. The Texas defense bent frequently, as Red Raiders quarterback Alan Bowman threw for 325 yards and five touchdowns of his own. But Texas also forced three Bowman interceptions to provide the fuel for their comeback.
Now the top-rated team from the Big 12, Tom Herman’s cannot let up. They welcome TCU to Austin in Week 5, then turn around and face Oklahoma in the Red River Shootout at the Cotton Bowl.
